Here are some videos of the Xavier Percussion Ensemble, including some footage of our recent Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) performance, as well as some of our past projects that involve multimedia and collaborative interactions. Additionally, there are a few of the results from our student composer/arranger/performer pop concerts that are entirely student generated.
WE HAVE at least one concert a year WHERE the percussion ensemble performs AN ENTIRE PROGRAM OF ALL STUDENT CREATED compositions and ARRANGEMENTS, typically POP WORKS. this workshop experience allows THE STUDENTS CHOOSE THE MUSIC OR COMPOSE ORIGINAL WORKS, CREATE AND REFINE THE ARRANGEMENTS OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL COUNSELING SESSIONS WITH ME, AND PREPARE A PROFESSIONAL QUALITY SCORE AND PARTS USING MUSIC NOTATION SOFTWARE. I THINK THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN A FANTASTIC LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR THE ARRANGERS/MUSICIANS IN THE ENSEMBLE AND IT GIVES EVERYONE A CHANCE TO GROW BY BETTER UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESSES THAT OCCUR ON THE "OTHER SIDE" OF THE MUSIC STAND. KUDOS TO ALL INVOLVED!
